Mount Vernon School announced a strategic partnership with Texas Tech University-Costa Rica to expand global opportunities for students enrolled in the Sandy Springs school’s Global Impact Diploma program.

Students in the new program will have career-connected and cross-cultural experiences in Georgia and abroad, according to a press release.

The Global Impact Diploma launched this year as one of Mount Vernon’s three Upper School pathways. According to the release, it empowers students to explore real-world problem solving, cross-cultural collaboration, and purposeful global engagement.

The partnership with Texas Tech will give students access to globally focused internships, industry mentorships, expert-led boot camps, and cultural immersion programs. The release said the goal is to enable students to foster adaptability, empathy, and global fluency before they enter college.

“Our students are driven by purpose; they want to make a difference now,” said Mount Vernon Head of School Kristy Lundstrom, according to the release. “This partnership with Texas Tech Costa Rica redefines what global education can look like at the high school level.”

Located in San José, Costa Rica, the Texas Tech University-Costa Rica has strong ties to more than 180 multinational companies. According to the release, it ensures that 90 percent of its students are employed before graduation through internships, research, and career mentoring.

The executive director of the Costa Rica campus, Ellen Rose, said the university connects students to opportunity, according to the release. The partnership with Mount Vernon aligns with that mission to help young people build global networks, gain real-world experience, and step confidently into their futures.

The institutions are co-designing experiences, such as an international internship pipeline, a career readiness boot camp, and the expansion of Mount Vernon School Online into Latin America, intended to strengthen opportunities for students to learn flexibly as they lead on a global scale.
