5. 17Hundred90 Inn & Restaurant

For more than a century, the historic 17Hundred90 Inn & Restaurant has stood in the heart of Downtown Savannah, earning a reputation for both its history and its collection of chilling tales. The inn is so closely associated with the supernatural that it has even published guests’ reported paranormal experiences on its website.

Built in 1820, 17Hundred90 opened during a particularly turbulent period in Savannah’s history. The city had been devastated by a series of fires, while a devastating yellow fever epidemic was sweeping through the area. Yet the inn’s most enduring ghost story centers on a young woman named Anne Powell.

According to legend, Anne was seduced by a sailor and later leapt to her death from Room 204. Guests and staff have since attributed a variety of unexplained occurrences to her spirit. She is said to move or take small trinkets belonging to visitors and arrange women’s nightclothes across the bed, as though preparing for someone to wear them. Some guests have even reported feeling Anne caress their cheeks or seeing her standing over them as they sleep.

Anne’s legend has become such a beloved part of the inn’s history that some visitors reserve Room 204 months in advance, hoping for the chance to experience Savannah’s most famous resident ghost firsthand.

6. The Kehoe House

Completed in 1892 as the home of William Kehoe, his wife, and their ten children, the Kehoe House has experienced many lives over the years. What began as a family residence later became a boarding house and, eventually, a funeral parlor. Today, the beautifully preserved mansion serves as an upscale bed and breakfast overlooking picturesque Columbia Square. But beneath its elegant interiors and historic charm lies a darker legend—the story of the Kehoe twins, who are said to have died while playing near a fireplace.

According to local lore, the tragedy is the reason the inn’s fireplaces are decorated with cherubs, serving as a memorial to the twins. Guests have reported hearing the sounds of children laughing and playing in otherwise empty hallways. Others claim to have felt an unseen presence in rooms 201 and 203, where some say they have felt someone sit on the bed, leaving behind visible indentations and a lingering warmth.
