We’ve made it to Week 1, Dawg Nation. We can now start focusing on the product on the field rather than the courtroom (maybe). Let’s check-in around the SEC ahead of the first slate of games.
LSU and NFL Players
As many of you might be aware, LSU and head coach Lane Kiffin are recruiting players that fell victim to NFL roster cuts to come back to college. This has been met with intense backlash, and many court injunctions and legal mumbo jumbo has occurred since they announced former pros would be returning.
Conflicting reports are out there about what the SEC may do in response. Some reports suggest the other 15 schools may boycott LSU games or even expelling them from the league. Other reports say some of the other SEC schools are looking to bring in former pros.
This is such a mess, and if you have been with an NFL team, you should not be allowed to come back to college. Unless Matthew Stafford wants one more year in Athens once he retires. He can come back.
Tennessee’s Sponsor
Tennessee’s jersey patch sponsorship is confirmed as being First Horizon. The deal is for 10 years and $120 million. It’s only a matter of time before all schools have one.
2026 Bowman Chrome Checklist Announced
For those of you who are avid card collectors, the checklist for this year’s Bowman Chrome has been released. The Georgia players that will be featured are Chauncey Bowens, Dwight Phillips Jr., London Humphreys, Isaiah Canion, and Lawson Luckie.
I cannot wait to discuss what happened on the field and looking ahead to Week 2 rather than discussing the law (which is MaconDawg’s forte, not mine). Go Dawgs!!!
