ESPN has very different rankings for Braves top prospects

When it comes to prospects, beauty is in the eye of the beholder — and I love someone who’s willing to trust their gut rather than mirror what the rest of the industry believes.

That’s exactly what we’ve seen Kiley McDaniel do over at ESPN. He just updated his list of the top 100 prospects in all of baseball, and four Braves were included — roughly on par with what you’ll see anywhere else. However, where they ranked is what makes it intriguing.

#89 Cam Caminiti

Considered by many a top-three prospect in the Braves organization, Cam Caminiti is the lowest-ranked Brave in the top 100. The 20-year-old is in his second full professional season after being taken in the first round a couple of years ago, and he’s already reached Double-A, where he just turned in one of the best performances of his career. Over six innings against a loaded Montgomery Biscuits lineup, he allowed one run on three hits and a walk with seven strikeouts. With a strong start to his 2027 campaign, the conversations about his MLB debut will begin.

#80 Conor Essenburg

This is the first time I’ve seen Conor Essenburg included on a top 100 list, and I love it. Because of all the success guys like Eric Hartman and Tate Southisene have had, Essenburg has flown quietly under the radar — but his performance for Augusta was anything but quiet. Over 59 games, he blasted 14 home runs with a .990 OPS, earning a promotion to High-A Rome. The power and the arm are very impressive, but the plate discipline is what really stands out. He’s walked 76 times in 79 games this season, leading to a .417 on-base percentage.

#33 Eric Hartman

Hartman has slowed down pretty considerably since a first half that saw him hit 20 home runs and steal 30 bases. However, the tools are still too incredible to ignore. He’s a legitimate five-tool athlete who could be at least a 20/20 guy at the major-league level down the line. The question is whether his offense will translate as he continues to move through the system. McDaniel clearly believes it will.

#30 Tate Southisene

To see two young Braves prospects inside the top 33 in all of baseball is a breath of fresh air. This is Southisene’s first full professional season since being taken in the first round of the 2025 MLB Draft, and at the time, most “draft analysts” were calling it a reach.

It certainly doesn’t look that way anymore. In about half a season, Southisene has moved up two levels, all the way to Double-A Columbus. Unfortunately, he’s been sidelined for the last couple of weeks after taking a pitch off his hand. But even if that’s the end of his first campaign, what a wild success it’s been. As a 19-year-old, he’s hit 12 homers with 45 stolen bases and an .876 OPS over 90 games.
