Four intriguing Braves set to star in Arizona Fall League

The Arizona Fall League kicked off yesterday, and the Braves have sent nine players to suit up for the Glendale Desert Dogs — several of whom could spend meaningful time in Atlanta as early as next season.

Jhancarlos Lara (AAA)

A late-season call-up made it seem like Jhancarlos Lara was on the verge of making his MLB debut in the final week of the season, but that moment will have to wait until 2026. Lara’s arm gives him tremendous upside. His fastball regularly touches triple digits, and his slider is one of the nastiest pitches on the planet when it’s on. His biggest issue, like many young pitchers, is control. He averaged nearly a walk per inning this year, which led to a 7.73 ERA across Double-A and Triple-A despite being nearly unhittable when in the zone. The Braves are hopeful that his time in the Arizona Fall League will help him refine his command and set him up to be a key bullpen piece next season.

Jim Jarvis (AAA)

Acquired in the trade that sent Rafael Montero to Detroit at the deadline — yes, the Braves actually got a prospect in return for Montero — Jarvis is a slick-fielding infielder who can play all over the diamond. His bat isn’t his calling card, but he held his own after the trade, posting a .706 OPS over 21 games for Double-A Columbus. With his defensive versatility, Jarvis could develop into a useful utility option for Atlanta as soon as next season.

Nacho Alvarez (MLB)

Players with as much major league experience as Nacho Alvarez don’t often participate in the Arizona Fall League, but after missing the first few months of the season with a wrist injury, the Braves wanted to get him more reps heading into 2026. Alvarez will compete for a spot on the Opening Day roster in Spring Training and could even push for more playing time if he shows greater consistency at the plate.

Luke Sinnard (A+)

A third-round pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, Luke Sinnard just wrapped up an impressive first season of professional baseball. He was dominant for Augusta, posting a microscopic 0.92 ERA over his first seven starts before earning a promotion. Rome offered more of a challenge, but he still managed a solid 4.19 ERA across 43 innings. At 6-foot-8 and 250 pounds, Sinnard has the largest frame in the organization and is a name to watch closely in 2026.
