The Georgia Diamond Dawgs haven’t taken part in the spectacle that is the College World Series since 2008. They got there this year by taking on a rigorous SEC schedule and emerging as the regular season and conference tournament champions.
Their reward? Yet another trip through the gauntlet of Southeastern Conference elites.
Georgia’s path to its first baseball national championship in 36 years will start Saturday night at 8:00 pm when the ‘Dawgs take on the Texas Longhorns. The winner of that matchup will take on the winner of another SEC tilt between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Oklahoma Sooners, who will take to the Schwab Stadium field at 3:00 pm on Saturday.
That winners bracket game will be on Monday, immediately following the losers bracket game between the losers of UGA/ Texas and Bama/Oklahoma. The loser of that Monday 2:00 pm game goes home.
All games are set to be televised live on ESPN.
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
