The newest location of Grindhouse Killer Burgers opens Jan. 14 across from Top Golf in the Underwood Hills neighborhood of Atlanta.
Located adjacent to The Works at the corner of Chattahoochee Avenue and Ellsworth Industrial Boulevard, the two-story burger joint features indoor seating, a covered patio on the ground floor, and a 21+ rooftop bar with TVs for watching sports.
For owners Alex Brounstein and Johnny Farrow, providing an adults-only space at Grindhouse in the form of a rooftop bar has become an integral part of the design. While similar in square footage to Grindhouse in Decatur, the Underwood Hills location boasts a larger rooftop patio.
Known for boozy milkshakes, loaded fries, and thick beef patties blending chuck roast and brisket, Grindhouse burgers come with toppings like pimento cheese, chili, and even fried green tomatoes.
To celebrate its grand opening in Underwood Hills, the first 100 people to visit the new location on Jan. 14 will receive a free Grindhouse-style junior burger.

Underwood Hills marks the sixth standalone location of Grindhouse Killer Burgers in Georgia, which started as a food stall at Sweet Auburn Curb Market in 2009. That location closed in 2020.
Grindhouse now includes restaurant locations in Piedmont Heights, Brookhaven, Decatur, Grant Park, and Athens, with satellite locations at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Truist Park, home to the Atlanta Braves.
“It feels surreal, when I step back and think about those early days and how far things have come,” Brounstein told Rough Draft. “I started with virtually zero restaurant experience, other than a few stints as a short-order cook. To think of how little I knew about operating a restaurant during the Sweet Auburn Curb Market days, it makes me laugh a little.”
In 2024, Brounstein and Farrow opened Breaker Breaker and 21+ rooftop bar Floridaman in Reynoldstown on a sliver of land once part of the former Stein Steel property.
Located on the Eastside Beltline, and led by Chef Maximilian Hines, Breaker Breaker’s vibe and menu resemble that of the open-air seafood shacks found along the Gulf and East coasts. During the colder months, Breaker Breaker transforms into Long Haul Lounge, complete with fire pits, a New England tavern-style menu, and cocktails such as a maple bourbon hot toddy.
Grindhouse Killer Burgers, 1221 Chattahoochee Ave., Underwood Hills. Open 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Closed on Tuesdays.
