We often have discussions here at Wander about where to go when we need a quick bite for lunch, but don’t want to feel awful afterwards. You know those meals that are just heavy and greasy and taste great going down but leave you feeling… heavy and greasy…? Holistic Mountain Market is often our answer to this equation, with some delicious sandwiches made with real, fresh, and healthy ingredients. Or maybe a protein-packed smoothie or chia bowl. All freshly made with organic and tasty ingredients.
But Holistic is also so much more than a spot to grab a quick meal. From organic groceries to vitamins and supplements, herbs and spices, bulk refill, cbd, and much, much more.
Holistic Mountain Market is run by Erin and Nicole, who grew up here in Rabun County and know the value of keeping a focus on their community. Erin and Nicole stepped in to carry on the legacy of Holistic when their dear friend, Dana, moved away after building this wonderful space from the ground up.
You can almost think of Holistic as your favorite little organic and local grocery store with tons of locally sourced options for the goods you already buy every day. Options such as fresh-baked bread and buns, a nearly endless selection of local and organic fruits and veggies, local honey, organic and vegan cheeses, and even handcrafted local dog food. You might be tired of hearing the word local by the end of this post, but supporting businesses here in our community is a huge part of what we stand for, and we’re so excited to see such a focus on that inside of Holistic.
When Holistic shifted into its new space at the end of 2025, one area they were excited to expand was the bulk refill options. They now have stations for refilling items such as laundry detergent to prevent excess plastic waste from containers. Most impressive, though, may be the apothecary wall with over 75 different herbs, spices, and teas for you to choose from. You know those tiny little spice containers you buy from the grocery store, only to throw away the jar once it’s empty? Why not refill it instead? Now you’re only paying for the spice, not the packaging, and there’s less waste each time it empties. Sounds like a win-win to us.
Now, in our humble opinion, we saved the best for last. The smoothies! I mean, who doesn’t love a good smoothie? Of course, the most important part of making a good smoothie is what goes into it, and that’s where these really shine. Packed full of feel-good organic ingredients, these smoothies are top-notch and make you feel great too. With options to add in protein, energy boosters, or immune support, they also make for great meal replacers or afternoon pick-me-ups.
We really could go on about all of the fantastic options this little local shop has to offer, but we truly think your time would be better spent by paying them a visit yourself. The next time you’re headed out for your regular grocery shopping or looking for a new lunch option, drop in and see what they offer; you just might be surprised.
