A lot of words describe all that’s around the Georgia baseball program right now.

Euphora. Joy. Thrill. Jubilation. Drought-ending. Pride.

Needless to say, as excited as the Georgia fan base may be right now, there’s a lot for anyone within the Diamond Dawgs program to excitedly contend with this week. In addition to practices and workouts, there’s also the prepping to travel halfway across the country to begin the College World Series, where Georgia will play Texas on Saturday night.

Getting ready for college baseball’s biggest and brightest stage has a lot of moving parts, and if there’s a way that Georgia and head coach Wes Johnson would like to do things, it has that right. In other words, if it does not want to add unneeded weight to an already hectic week, that’s Georgia’s right to do so. No matter who is asking.

But at least one outlet appears to think that does not apply to them.

Less than 24 hours after Georgia clinched its first CWS berth since 2008, the Barstool brand decided to try to tarnish Georgia’s moment with a hissyfit that’d make my youngest child blush.

For the crime of apparently deciding that one of its star players was not going to be made available for a segment on Wake Up Barstool.

In case you don’t care to listen, Barstool’s Dave Portnoy, went even further, stating “screw Georgia. The Georgia Bulldogs are dead to me” as well as “I will never root for Georgia, I will never side with Georgia.”

Perhaps Barstool should be dead to anyone who has any affiliation with The University of Georgia, from a fan all the way up to those who proudly call themself alumni.

It’s very notable that the very same outlet that is upset about Georgia rightly did not make Daniel Jackson available for is the same one that vehemently dismissed college baseball a week ago.

The University of Georgia Athletic Department was blessed to have one of the best…scratch that…the best Sports Information Director in the business for many years with Claude Felton. He may have taken a well-earned retirement in recent years, but there are plenty of people within that team that do things very similarly to Claude Felton, and Georgia’s outstanding baseball SID Christopher Lakos is one of them.

This is an enormous week for Georgia baseball, and it has every right to do things that way it chooses, regardless of what someone who cared nothing of the Diamond Dawgs existence until 72 hours ago.

Go Dawgs!
