Welcome to Tuesday, Bulldog Fans! You’ve only got 11 more sleeps until it’s Game Day in Athens. And since no one will mind you using your corporate Claude or Copilot license to craft the most inricate and complete grocery and liquor store shopping list, you’ve got plenty of time. So let’s get warmed up with the news out of Athens and college football.
UGA defensemen Ellis Robinson IV, KJ Bolden, and Raylen Wilson have all been named to the 2026 Chuck Bednarik Award watch list.
Four Bulldogs were named to the Preseason Coaches All-Southeastern Conference First Team, and 11 Bulldogs overall – more than any other school. Drew Bobo, Earnest Greene, Robinson, and Bolden got the nod for the first team, while Nate Frazier, Lawson Luckie, Dontrell Glover, Wilson and Elijah Griffin placed on the 2nd team. Gunner Stockton and Gabe Harris rounded out the selections on the 3rd team.
If you thought that was a slight to Gunner Stockton, take solace in that Stockton was also named to the Manning Award Preseason Watch List.
As the season draws near, the remaining starting quarterback competitions are dwindling. On the heels of Alabama trying to placate a 5 star QB and prevent a transfer, the Volunteers have given the reins to 5 star frosh Faizon Brandon. This of course is totally depending on if Josh Heupel can get Hendon Hooker’s name on the latest TRO out of Seveir County.
Arkansas similarly named KJ Jackson as QB1. And Jon Sumrall at Florida now has his signal caller in Aaron Philo. I think it’s a great fit, personally. Philo spent time with new UF OC Buster Faulkner at Georgia Tech, and he has the mustache of a Florida Gator. There’s a special something about him… he looks like the kinda guy who would score a TD, then spike the ball into his own plums before getting blown up by a LB.
Speaking of TROs and favorable district court rulings, word out of Argyle Nation is that Chapel Bill Belichick is sniffing around the ranks of the NFL camps for possible new enrollments. Well, most camps except the NE Patriots. With his general manager Michael Lombardi on administrative leave, and the team likely leaving for their Week 0 game in Dublin, Ireland, we’re not sure who might be doing the sniffing.
While you’ve got a bad taste in your mouth, news comes out that the folks at Ole Miss don’t trust Lane Kiffin very much. Huh.
After setting a national record for attendance at a collegiate women’s soccer game, the Bulldogs continue their winning ways with a victory over Milwaukee. The Bulldogs notched their 3rd win, are ranked (#25), and celebrated Senior Day. There might be something to this “early in the season Senior Day” thing – I think we all can appreciate giving the seniors their due and spotlight, and maybe even a little more playing time.
I hope that gets your day going. Let us know what you’re hearing in the comments, or what you’ve got planned for the first college football in 270+ days. Yet as always…
GO ‘DAWGS!!!
