When the Falcons hired Raheem Morris over Bill Belichick last offseason, it was met with mass hysteria.
How could Arthur Blank pass on the greatest coach of all time in favor of a guy with a 21-38 record as a head coach? Well, it seems we may have dodged a bullet, a 24-year-old bullet.
Instead of the North Carolina program gaining steam ahead of the 2025 campaign with Bill Belichick leading the charge, all anyone is talking about around UNC is the eight-time Super Bowl champion’s girlfriend.
Jordon Hudson has been in and around Chapel Hill since Belichick was hired, appearing on practice fields during the Spring in non-athletic attire, essentially acting as Belichick’s assistant, guiding him in national interviews, and just being a total distraction from the Tar Heels’ upcoming season.
Who is this Bill Belichick? The UNC boosters and athletic department cannot be happy with what is transpiring. They thought they were getting the Hall of Fame GM and head coach who put together two separate dynasties with the Patriots, completely reinventing New England multiple times.
The Falcons avoided quite the mess it seems. Of course, we can’t know for sure if this would’ve been the case had Arthur Blank gone with Bill Belichick instead of Raheem Morris, but I’m not sure how it would be completely different.
The Falcons would’ve hired Belichick with the expectation that they were getting the head coach who lives and breathes football. The man who wouldn’t dare respond to poor press. The man who orchestrated one of the most rigorous programs in sports history.
That’s what North Carolina was expecting. Instead, they’ve got this version of Bill Belichick, who I’m not sure anyone recognizes.
