The Falcons announced the hiring of executive Bryce Johnston on Tuesday, bringing him in as Senior Vice President of Football Administration/Senior Personnel Executive.
Johnston arrives from the Philadelphia Eagles, where he worked under Howie Roseman — widely regarded as one of the top front office minds in football. He joined Philadelphia back in 2016 and overlapped with Ian Cunningham from 2017-2021, before Cunningham moved on to Chicago. By 2024, Johnston had climbed the ladder into a Senior Vice President role within the Eagles organization.
Moves like this rarely generate major headlines, but they’re often just as important as anything that happens on the field. Johnston was extremely well-regarded in Philadelphia, and according to NFL insider Albert Breer, a couple of ex-Eagles executives believe Ian Cunningham and the Falcons “pulled off a coup” to get him to Atlanta.
I talked to a couple ex-Eagles folks who said Ian Cunningham pulled off a coup in getting Johnston out of Philly. Cunningham and Johnston worked together for five seasons (2017-21) under Howie Roseman. https://t.co/i4qyxZtbLL

It looks like Bryce Johnston will be taking over the role that was previously held by Chris Olsen, which heavily involves cap management and contract negotiations, areas he is very familiar with from his time with the Eagles.
