Braves 2027 Club Options

You could feasibly make the argument that the Braves should at least explore trading Ronald Acuña Jr. this offseason if they have no intention of extending him beyond his current deal. With two years left on his contract, maybe somebody steps forward with a prospect haul big enough to intrigue Atlanta.
I don’t personally think it happens. But what I can guarantee is that the Braves pick up his very team-friendly $17 million option for 2027.
The same goes for Ozzie Albies. The second baseman had a rough second half, and the days of him being in the conversation for the best player at his position may be behind him. But he’s still a tremendous clubhouse presence and one of the few Braves bats who actually showed up in the postseason.
Since Atlanta would save just $3 million by cutting him loose, this is another no-brainer. There’s no world where the Braves don’t pick up that option, and while Albies is another name Anthopoulos could at least field calls on, I’d bet good money he’s starting at second base on Opening Day in 2027.
The bigger question with both Acuña and Albies is whether the Braves would entertain an extension. Each has fallen short of expectations the last couple of seasons. Acuña’s issues have been almost exclusively injury-related — and that’s not a concern that seems likely to ever fully disappear.
Still, if Atlanta believes either can be a solid contributor over the next half-decade, there may never be a better time to strike on value. Both would likely sign this offseason for far less than we’d have imagined a couple of years ago — which could be an opening the Braves would be wise not to ignore.
