There literally isn’t a single arm in the relief core that should inspire confidence. Aaron Bummer and Dylan Lee have been good, but do you trust them in high-leverage situations? They’re middle relievers through and through.
Alex Anthopoulos watched AJ Minter sign with the Mets after Joe Jimenez underwent offseason knee surgery that could make him miss the entire 2025 campaign, and he elected to do nothing. It’s incompetence, and it’s hurting the Braves.
Thankfully, there’s still time to piece together a better bullpen. Craig Kimbrel was called up after lighting Triple-A on fire, and the trade deadline presents another opportunity to improve that unit.
Moreover, the Braves could be welcoming back an unlikely arm — Joe Jimenez. We haven’t heard a peep from Atlanta’s beat on any updates, but apparently, the burly veteran is currently doing long toss from 120 feet and is up to 80% on the treadmill. More notably, Jiminez said that his goal is to be throwing bullpens by the end of this month, according to Lindsay Crosby.
Update on Joe Jiménez, per a podcast interview he did yesterday:
He's currently doing long toss from 120 feet & is up to 80% on the treadmill. His goal is to be throwing bullpens by the end of June.

The Braves aren’t going to be saved by Joe Jimenez or any single individual, but everyone helps, and Jimenez’s return to stabilize the backend of the bullpen would be a massive step forward.
The Braves need an all-hands-on-deck approach over the last 101 games. From the pitching staff to the lineup, it has to be built brick by brick in hopes of digging themselves out of this hole.
