The Falcons came away with a haul on Day 1 of the NFL Draft, beginning with their 15th overall pick, where they took star Georgia Bulldogs linebacker Jalon Walker, who could end up being the steal of the entire draft. The Falcons then doubled down on pass rushers by trading back into the first round and selecting the ultra-athletic James Pearce Jr. with the 26th pick.
Nobody has struggled at sacking the quarterback quite like the Falcons over the last two decades, and Terry Fontenot responded by aggressively attempting to fix the issue. Nobody can fault him for that today, but there could be major negative implications if the Falcons don’t make the playoffs next season.
