The Falcons only have one pick on Day 2 of the NFL Draft, which consists of the second and third rounds. But that was the case even before the blockbuster trade that eventually landed James Pearce Jr.
Atlanta had a second-rounder, but that was included in the deal that netted the Rams’ 26th overall pick. In addition, the Falcons also got LA’s third-rounder. As of right now, that’s all they have, and it’s the 101st pick, which is at the end of the third round.
So, which prospects are the Falcons looking at? Here are a few mock drafts from notable members of the media:
The Athletic’s Nick Baumgardner
101. Atlanta Falcons*: Demetrius Knight Jr., LB, South Carolina
Bleacher Report’s Scouting Department
101. Atlanta Falcons (via Rams)*: CB Quincy Riley, Louisville (7.1)
CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso
No. 101: Atlanta Falcons – Shemar Turner, DT, Texas A&M
Yahoo! Sports’ Nick Gray
101. Atlanta Falcons (special compensatory) — Jalen Royals, WR, Utah State
Knight is a fun player. He led the Gamecocks with 57 solo stops this past season, which included 8 for loss and two sacks, while also adding an interception and three fumbles forced. However, linebacker might be the position I would least expect.
Right now, Atlanta has Jalon Walker, Kaden Elliss, Troy Andersen, Divine Deablo, and JD Bertrand on the roster. Even if Walker assumes a multi-faceted role, it still wouldn’t warrant another body in that room.
Royals is interesting and is from Georgia. He’s a burner, running the 40-yard dash in 4.42 seconds at the 2025 NFL Combine. The Falcons offense could use a player to take the top off the defense, but I still think it’s further down the list of needs.
Riley and Turner address the team’s two biggest needs. Riley projects as a slot corner, which is perfect because the Falcons could use some more competition there with Dee Alford and Clark Phillips. Turner is the interior force I’ve been banging the table for.
Regardless of who it is, if the Falcons can find a solid contributor on Day 2, it would be a home run for Terry Fontenot.
