2025 NFL Draft: Best available prospects for Falcons on Day 2

What an exhilarating first night of the NFL Draft for the Atlanta Falcons!

What seemed like an impossibility throughout the process came to reality when Jalon Walker fell right to the 15th pick. Instead of zigging when everyone else was zagging like he might normally do, Terry Fontenot just rode the wave and drafted Walker.

Fontenot wasn’t done. The Falcons then traded up to the 26th pick, giving the Rams a 2026 first-round pick, their second-rounder this year, and a seventh-round pick in exchange for LA’s first and a third-rounder. With that, Fontenot doubled down, drafting another SEC pass rusher in James Pearce Jr.

It’s a move that once again shocked the NFL world. It probably was an overpay, as I’m sure you’ve read in the wake of an exciting first round, but Fontenot saw a problem and attacked it. Falcons fans can complain about the compensation traded away for JPJ, but I’m not one of those fans. This one will give credit where credit is due, and Fontenot nailed the first round.

Now, he’s got three picks in the third, fourth, and seventh-rounds to round out what could be a franchise-changing draft class.

Atlanta Falcons 2025 Draft Picks

  • #15 — Jalon Walker
  • #26 — James Pearce Jr.
  • #101 (Third Round)
  • #118 (Fourth Round)
  • #218 (Seventh Round)

Best available prospects on Day 2 from USA Today

61. Jared Wilson, C, Georgia
68. Jack Sawyer, DE, Ohio State
72. T.J. Sanders, DT, South Carolina
84. Andrew Mukuba, S, Texas
88. Benjamin Morrison, CB, Notre Dame
96. Sai’vion Jones, DE, LSU
108. C.J. West, DT, Indiana
149. Malachi Moore, S, Alabama
153. Isaiah Bond, WR, Texas
186. Nazir Stackhouse, DT, Georgia
192. Arian Smith, WR, Georgia

The Falcons still have needs across the defensive front, particularly a run-stuffing defensive tackle. A space eater would pair perfectly with the speed of Jalon Walker and James Pearce Jr., but the secondary could also use a body or two. If, for some wild reason, Jared Wilson falls, that would be a dream. I still believe the Georgia center could be a starter in this league and, at the very least, compete with Ryan Nuezil this year. Perhaps the Falcons trade Kirk Cousins today as well, which could result in more draft capital.
