After a student brought a gun to campus, North Springs High School Principal Scott Hanson said police immediately responded and located the weapon without incident.
In an email to parents just after 3 p.m. on March 31, Hanson said the students involved in bringing the weapon to campus will be disciplined and may face potential criminal charges.

Before the seizure of the weapon, Hanson said several individuals alerted school administration that a student might have a gun on campus. School officials have not said where the firearm was located or how many students were involved.
“We value transparency with our community, and the safety of our students and staff is always our highest priority,” Hanson said. “We are thankful to the individuals who spoke up and reported this information. Doing so allowed us to act quickly and ensure the continued safety of our school community.”
The school administration encouraged parents to remind their children that they play a vital role in maintaining a safe school environment. Any suspicious behavior or items can be reported anonymously through the district’s S.H.A.R.E. Tip Line (See it. Hear it. And Report it Every time) or by speaking to an administrator, campus police officer, or a staff member.
“We appreciate your trust and partnership as we work together to keep North Springs High School a safe and supportive environment for all,” Hanson said.
