There were some really high expectations for Daysbel Hernandez coming into the season, as the Braves hoped he could fill one of the set-up roles that was left over from A.J. Minter and Joe Jimenez.
Hernandez did for a while. He posted a 1.64 ERA over his first 21 appearances of the season, but it was a bit of fool’s gold. He was walking a ton of batters and even his strikeout rate was down considerably, despite boasting a filthy repertoire. Eventually, the Braves lost faith in him in high leverage situations, and he’s bounced between AAA, the majors, and the IL ever since.
Shoulder injuries can be tricky, so hopefully, this isn’t something that is going to linger into 2026. The Braves need all the bullpen arms they can get, and while Hernandez’s 2025 campaign may have been underwhelming, he still boasts an incredible arm with tons of upside that could help the club in the future.
