We did get good news rather quickly. The Braves announced during the game that X-rays were negative, and another report from after the game said that the CT scan was also negative. But sitting just a week away from the start of the postseason, there was still some level of concern.
That looks to be put to bed with this latest report from Mark Bowman, who says Acuña was ready to play tonight but the Braves wanted to give him the day off. He’ll likely be back in the lineup tomorrow.
It’s been another roller-coaster season for Ronald Acuña Jr. He’s spent two different stints on the Injured List, costing him more than 50 games, and even when he’s been in the lineup, he hasn’t looked quite like himself for most of the season.
That changed around a month ago. Over his last 23 games, he’s hitting .368 with seven home runs, easily the best of anybody in the Braves’ lineup. Acuña is looking like the guy who won the NL MVP back in 2023 again, and for as much as Atlanta’s offense has struggled for long stretches this season, they could ill afford to lose that kind of production heading into October.
