Braves announce roster moves ahead of Pirates series

Coming off a series win over the Reds, which culminated with a thrilling come-from-behind victory in the 11th inning thanks to Drake Baldwin’s first walk-off, the Braves have made a couple of roster moves ahead of their series with the Pirates.

The team announced they’ve designated Eddie Rosario for assignment and selected Luke Williams to the major league roster.

I have no idea what the hell Eddie Rosario was doing on the roster in the first place. In the third game of the series, Brian Snitker decided not to let Eli White hit, who owns a .967 OPS across his last 14 games, and turned to Rosario, who has one single hit all season and batted .175 last year.

When asked about why he decided to let Rosairo pinch-hit instead of White or even Sean Murphy, Snitker said he thought the 2021 NLCS MVP could repeat some magic. In all likelihood, the Braves would have lost anyway, but backing up a decision because of nostalgia is mind-boggling. It was a head-scratching move.

Even more, Rosario was called upon last night to pinch run while the Braves were down one run in the 9th inning. A Michael Harris hit to left field got Rosario in a position to tie the ball game, and honestly, I didn’t think he was going to make it.

If the Reds had an outfielder with an actual arm, that could’ve been the beginning of the end of the Braves’ comeback because Rosario was laboring around third base. Thankfully, Alex Anthopoulos took Brian Snitker’s toy away from him, and Rosario’s time with the Braves is over… for now.
