Georgia-Florida. That’s the official name we’re going by here, by the way. Simply because it’s the correct one.

It’s also a week when the fine folks with interests around Alachua County, Florida have selective memories when it comes to what happened before 1990.

Truthfully, who could blame them. If my school went from 1964 to 1990 without beating its professed rival in back-to-back seasons, I’d want to forget that time, too.

Eventually, that series history swung big in Florida’s history thanks to the Head Ball Coach and later, the combo on Urban Meyer and Tim Tebow, but Georgia still leads the all-time series 58-44 – even if the Gators dispute one of that Bulldog wins. That record comes despite Georgia winning only three times from 1990 to 2010, a big testament to what happened before 1990.

But since the folks south of places like Lake Park, Fargo, Statenville, Folkston, Kingsland and Woodbine understandably would want to forget much of what happened in this rivalry before 1990, we’re here to today to provide a service and noting what else did not exist before 1990.

Major League Baseball being played indoors – yes, even in Florida!

The fact that you can pay student-athletes…legally!

The ability to facelessly troll opposing fans with a device that rests in the palm of your hand

The Atlanta Falcons…scratch that. They’re still, as the late great Larry Munson once said, “so pitiful.”

The Dawg Walk

Unfortunately…the affront to pulled pork that is Sonnys BBQ still exists. Eat it if you wish, but it’s not legitimate BBQ.

Zaxby’s restaurants outside of the ones in Valdosta and Statesboro, the former of which was in a legitimate old two-story house.

The concept of Pat McAfee as an on-air personality.

Broadcasters using their dog as a shield against criticism.

Pop music disguised as country music.

Google. The previous version was a whole shelf of encyclopedias.

Relying on maps instead of a mobile device for directions. Honestly, it made you feel like a pirate seeking treasure.

Costco.

Sanford Stadium being used for things beside football.

Visors being a fashionable sideline apparel option. If there’s one thing that both Georgia and Florida’s best coaches in their history have in common that is it…as well as deep-seeded Kylo Ren hatred being birthed by a loss as a player.

Go Dawgs!
