A ten-game win streak should give the Braves’ some confidence going into the offseason that they can still compete at the highest level. With a few additions to the roster, they should be right back into playoff contention next season. However, the win streak did have a bit of a negative impact when it comes to their odds of landing the #1 pick next year.

At one point, the Braves had the second-best odds of landing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 MLB Draft. That now feels like a distant memory, as they’re projected to finish anywhere between fourth and seventh.
Currently, there’s a three-way tie between the Athletics, Braves, and Orioles at 75–84 for the fourth-worst record. If the Braves stumble against the Pittsburgh Pirates to close the season, they could still finish with roughly a 10% chance at the top pick. However, given how well they’ve been playing down the stretch, it’s far more likely they land sixth or worse. Meanwhile, the Marlins have a big series against the Mets this weekend as they look to play spoiler in New York.
Some fans aren’t thrilled with Atlanta’s late-season surge, believing it hurt their draft position. But that’s a silly way of thinking. Purposely losing is what bad organizations do — and it’s one of the reasons they stay bad.
The Braves will still earn a premium pick in next year’s draft, and the momentum they’ve built to close out the season will have a far greater impact on 2026 than any prospect they might select.
