First forums for Atlanta mayor and city council candidates set for June 17

Committee for a Better Atlanta (CBA) will host the first forums to feature City of Atlanta candidates from individual districts and at-large posts, as well as candidates for mayor and city council president.

The June 17 forums are an opportunity to hear directly from candidates on their perspectives and policies on the issues important to the business and civic community, while also providing the chance to share their vision for the city.

The forums will take place at The Gathering Spot, 384 Northyards Blvd., Building 100, Suite 190. Council district forums are from 10 a.m. to noon, while mayoral, council president, and at-large posts are from 12:30 to 2 p.m.

The event will allow candidates to respond to questions related to CBA’s 2025 Policy platform, which identifies inclusive economic growth, safe neighborhoods, and project delivery of major taxpayer-funded initiatives.

Confirmed candidates include contenders for open seats in District 2, District 7, District 11, and City Council President, as well as incumbents in Post 2, Post 3, District 1, District 4, District 6, and District 9.

While the in-person forums are limited to the media, the public can watch online at these links:

Qualifying to appear on the Nov. 4 ballot runs from Aug. 17-20, so there are likely more candidates still to announce their intentions in the coming weeks.

Founded in 1996, CBA is a business coalition that advocates for a common business and civic agenda to policymakers as well as citizens.
