Florida House candidate hits Republican over harassment allegations

Florida Democratic congressional candidate Noah Widmann’s campaign rolled out an ad and website criticizing Rep. Cory Mills (R-Fla.) over harassment allegations made by the congressman’s former girlfriend.

The one-minute-long ad, first seen by The Hill, features news coverage of the harassment allegations against Mills from his former girlfriend Lindsey Langston, a Florida Republican state committee official who was crowned Miss United States 2024.

The ad also mentions domestic assault allegations against Mills from a separate former girlfriend as well as alleged campaign finance violations.

“Noah Widman is running for Congress to defeat him and return honest representation to Central Florida,” the ad wraps, calling Mills “America’s most corrupt member of Congress.”

Additionally, Widmann’s campaign launched a website, corruptcorymills.com, highlighting the allegations against the congressman.

During an interview with the Columbia County, Fla., Sheriff’s Office in July, Langston accused Mills of threatening to release explicit videos of her after their relationship ended in February. News of the allegations surfaced last month. Mills said in a statement to The Hill that the claims “are false and misrepresent the nature of my interactions.”

Langston, who began her relationship with Mills in 2021, ended her relationship with Mills earlier this year after she saw news reports that police were investigating a physical altercation between Mills and another woman in his Washington, D.C. residence. Mills and the alleged victim later denied that a physical altercation occurred. The Washington Metropolitan Police Department closed its investigation to that incident.

Earlier this month, a court declined to issue an immediate restraining order against Mills that was requested by Langston. However, the judge ordered both Mills and the woman to appear at a hearing later in the month to consider the matter further.

Widmann launched his campaign to represent the state’s 7th congressional district, which is made up of the northern part of Central Florida. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is targeting the district ahead of next year’s midterms, but it will be an uphill climb for a Democrat to win in the district. The Cook Political Report rates the district as R+5.
