A male suspect who allegedly pulled out a weapon while being investigated by Sandy Springs Police remains in critical condition in a local hospital after an officer shot him.
SSPD spokesperson Sgt. Leon Millholland said officers were dispatched to the Roswell Road-Dunwoody Place intersection on a domestic assault call at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 4. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found a man identified as the suspect and another female.
“While speaking with the individual, the individual pulled a weapon on the officers, and one of the officers shot the individual,” Millholland said. “The individual has been transported to the local hospital for medical treatment.”
Millholland said he did not know if the female victim had been injured. Sandy Springs Police detectives were notified and took over the assault investigation. Millholland said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation has taken over the officer-involved shooting investigation.
Millholland said the incident was captured on the officers’ body-worn cameras.
