Dunwoody will hold its annual Memorial Day Ceremony at Brook Run Park on May 26 at 10 a.m. The event will feature the Georgia State Defense Force Band and a keynote address by Maj. Rick Scheff. Council Member Joe Seconder will lead the Pledge of Allegiance, while Dunwoody Police Chief Mike Carlson will introduce a moment of silence. Dunwoody Baptist Church Pastor Robert Comeaux will offer the innvocation and benediction.
Roswell Remembers will be held on May 26 at 11 a.m. The program will include displays and music provided by the Roswell New Horizons Band, a military ceremony, the presentation of colors, Honor Guard, the singing of the national anthem, the Pledge of Allegiance, a POW/MIA tribute, and the solemn laying of the wreath. United State Army Colonel (Retired) Carl Hamilton (Skip) Bell from Marietta is the guest speaker.
The Marietta National Cemetery Ceremony will begin at noon on May 26 at 500 Washington Avenue NE. The ceremony will have patriotic melodies, the presentation of colors, prayers, a gun salute, and speeches. Veterans and the general public are invited to join the ceremony.
A Memorial Day Tribute will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at Alpharetta City on Monday, May 26. There will be a keynote address by Dr. Rich McCormick.
The Walk of Heroes Memorial Day Ceremony will start at 11 a.m. on May 26 at the Walk of Heroes Veterans War Memorial on Black Shoals Road in Conyers. Retired U.S. Army Capt. Tommy Clack will give a keynote address.
Lawrenceville will host a Memorial Day Ceremony at the Gwinnett Fallen Heroes Memorial on Langley Drive at 1 p.m. on May 26. U.S. Army Brigadier General Theodore Scott, commanding general of the Marietta-based 78th Troop Command of the Georgia Army National Guard, will be the keynote speaker. The event will also be live-streamed at this link.
A Memorial Day Remembrance will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Thrasher Park in Norcross. This special event will feature a small program including heartfelt words from Mayor Newton, a stirring bagpipe performance, and more.
