The Atlanta Falcons have stayed relatively healthy throughout training camp and the preseason, which is the top priority of the offseason. But they do have a couple of notable names dealing with injuries that don’t seem to be too serious.
After working through a hamstring injury to start training camp, Falcons first-round pick Jalon Walker is now dealing with a groin issue. It forced him to miss the second preseason game with the Titans, and from the sound of it, he might not play against the Cowboys this Friday either. Raheem Morris says the team is going to be very cautious with Walker as they try to get him ready for the regular season.

It’s disappointing Jalon Walker has already dealt with two muscle injuries leading up to the season. The hope was that he would be an immediate contributor on the Falcons defense, and while he still might have a role early on, it might be in a more limited capacity than initially anticipated.
Raheem Morris also provided an injury update on wide receiver Darnell Mooney. A breakout star for the Falcons last year, Mooney suffered a shoulder injury during the first day of training camp and has yet to return. His status appears to be up in the air for Week 1, but Morris did say Mooney is coming along well and has not suffered any setbacks.

Getting Mooney back on the field for the Falcons Week 1 matchup with the Buccaneers would be a massive development. Atlanta’s going to need to score a lot of points if they are to top the defending NFC South champions, and Mooney had some big games against Tampa Bay last season, logging 191 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
