A Tucker thrift shop, Value Village, is one of three metro Atlanta locations that will soon close permanently.

Value Village, located at 3857 Lawrenceville Hwy., will close its doors on Nov. 15, along with two other locations in Snellville and Riverdale, Christine Parsons, a Savers Value Village Inc. spokeswoman, told Rough Draft Atlanta.

“After careful consideration, we’ve made the difficult decision to close our Tucker, Riverdale, and Snellville locations, effective November 15,” read a company statement. “We are grateful to the community that has visited our stores, and we remain committed to serving our customers and nonprofit partners through continued operations across the Atlanta area.”

The Tucker Value Village is one of more than 360 locations of the for-profit thrift retailer chain in the United States, Canada and Australia. Savers thrift stores have been around for more than 70 years, offering furniture, clothing and other reused goods from local nonprofit organizations at competitive prices.

As of Oct. 30, sales for the company increased by 10.5 percent in the U.S., and the chain had added 10 new stores across all markets, according to an end-of-quarter financial report. Other metro Atlanta locations, like the one in Decatur, and dozens of locations across 30 U.S. states will remain open, according to the Savers website.

“We are pleased with our third-quarter results, driven by disciplined execution and a strong value proposition. U.S. sales grew at a double-digit pace, comparable store sales were robust across all geographies, and we successfully opened 10 new stores, putting us on track for a return to year-over-year profit growth beginning in the fourth quarter, Mark Walsh, CEO of Savers Value Village, Inc., said in an October statement.

Value Village stores located in Decatur, Conyers, Gainesville, and Forest Park remain open, Parsons said. A full list of locations can be found here.
