Atlanta
The Georgia Veterans Day Association, Inc. (GVDA) will hold this year’s annual celebration of our nation’s veterans and military families, which will take place on Saturday, Nov. 8.
This year, the celebration will return to Midtown Atlanta with family-friendly daytime activities, including the Georgia Veterans Day Parade and the annual Observance Ceremony at Woodruff Arts Center.
The GVDA also announced that its Freedom Ball will be returning to the Oceans Ballroom in the Georgia Aquarium. The black-tie, annual gala is a ticketed event. Details can be found on the GVDA website.

In recognition of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, Atlanta History Center will pay special tribute to veterans of all generations. The ceremony and afternoon events will celebrate their accomplishments, acknowledge their sacrifices, and reflect on their enduring contributions to our country.
This year’s keynote address will be delivered by Major General Burke Whitman, USMC (Ret.).
Program participants also include:
- Col. John Thompson, Master of Ceremonies
- Wayne Coleman, Bagpiper
- Timothy Miller, Tenor Soloist
- Master Sergeant Sparkle K. Adams, US Air Force (Ret.)
The ceremony is free to attend. Pre-registration is highly encouraged. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will move to an indoor location.
Dunwoody
The city will commemorate Veterans Day with a special ceremony and the dedication of the city’s new Veterans Memorial at Brook Run Park on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m., at 4770 N. Peachtree Road. All are welcome to attend the event, which will be held rain or shine.
Dunwoody Parks and Recreation began planning for the revitalization of the memorial in 2022, and DeKalb County Commissioner Robert Patrick allocated $100,000 from his district discretionary funds for the design, according to a release from the city.
The memorial features marble plaques, service flags, an eternal flame, and a Soldier’s Cross – a symbolic tribute with a rifle, helmet, and boots representing the fallen. A small path connects the Veterans Memorial with the Vietnam War Memorial, which was dedicated last year.
The ceremony’s featured speaker will be Captain Wayne Radloff, USN (Ret), a longtime Dunwoody resident who served more than 30 years of active duty as a Naval flight officer.
Sandy Springs
Retired U.S. Navy Commander Frank Weisser will be the keynote speaker at the Sandy Springs Veterans Day Tribute at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11. The event will be held in Byers Theatre at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center, 1 Galambos Way, across the street from Veterans Park.

Metro-wide
Top Dogg K9 Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to providing highly skilled service dogs to veterans at no cost, today announced it will be the sole beneficiary of the first-ever Veterans Day telethon, airing live on 11Alive, Atlanta’s NBC affiliate, on Tuesday, November 11. The telethon will kick off during the morning news at 5 a.m. EST.
For more than a decade, “Top Dogg K9 Foundation has been a beacon of hope for veterans, offering them the invaluable companionship and support of specially trained service dogs,” a release from the station said. “This vital mission comes with significant costs, as a fully-trained service dog can range from $12,000 to $25,000 upon completion of the rigorous Top Dogg K9 program.”
